Get Your Hours
All of Torah High’s courses comply with Education policies and guidelines in which there is a minimum of 100 hours of instruction. While there are 70 hours of in-class instruction delivered through weekly two hour sessions, the remaining 30 hours must be completed through Out of Class Options (OCOs).
There are presently three categories of Out of Class Options:
1) Attending various approved educational events in Seattle
These include Jewish educational events hosted by a variety of local Jewish organizations – Shabbat dinners, guest speakers, and other community events. Events will be announced during class throughout the year. Only approved events will count toward the required credit hours. Each event offers 2-4 hours depending on the event.
2) Attending JSU and NCSY Shabbatons, Events, and Trips
For full events, go to www.seattlencsy.com
3) Completing an independent study of an approved book related to class
Students can choose to read a selected book, or a portion thereof, and complete each book’s selected report. Specific details will be provided in class.
Please note the following:
1. The report consists of 12 hours of independent study.
2. Students can only complete one book report per course.
In addition, throughout the year, Torah High typically provides various other programs that can offer hours. Information about these options will be provided to the students as they occur. For more information about these programs, or for special considerations, please contact the Torah High office.
